Benjamin is solidly into his "talking back" phase. He has somehow learned that his ideas need to be voiced if at all possible. He is also having a GREAT time with his "lying" phase. Kids' lies ROCK because they are stupid, and are often immediately contradicted even by evidence lying within plain sight. (For example, "Yes, I ate my apple" and its lying under a napkin in front of him.)
So the other day we were having some little argument about something (I don't even remember what it was about). Benjamin told me some obviously-untrue lie. I was standing at the counter across the kitchen from him, and as soon as he spoke, I whipped around to look at him, and said, "Benjamin, I know you are lying do you think I am stupid?"
He thought about this for a small segment of time, then calmly stated (without a trace of humor too), "Actually, yes. I do think so."
Another bad mommy moment; I started hysterically laughing. I couldn't help it.
